Business Boost Program is an incentive for small companies with big dreams

The Program is made possible by the Ministry of Economic Development in cooperation with Curaçao Development Institute N.V. (CDI).

Business Boost aims to help create resilient small and medium enterprises (‘SME’) managed by knowledgeable leaders with the right mind-set to continuously improve and innovate, in order to grow their business and hence contribute to the local economy by creating jobs, substituting imports and ultimately becoming able to export their product or service.

Business Boost helps the entrepreneurs upgrade and professionalize their organization through innovative business solutions and the effective use of technology.

Business Boost was originally launched in June 2014, and provided a professional business coaching program to 40 entrepreneurs in past years.

Based on the valuable experience gained with this incentive program and upon great demand. The next Business Boost 2017 – 2018 will start in September 2017. You can apply between 7-21 of August 2017. The training and coaching sessions will start on August 30 and will run till February 2018.

Quotes of local entrepreneurs

  • Becoming an entrepreneur takes many, many hours of hard work. And don’t think you can do it on your own. You need to build a team around you.
    Igmar Comenencia, Kuki Monster
  • As an entrepreneur, you have to be creative in order to identify and capitalize on opportunities.
    Michel Bon, IBIS
  • When the economy takes a tumble, you can be faced with challenges that could make you want to give up on your business. You should stick to your business because precisely those challenges make you more creative in finding solutions.
    Eugene Maduro, Living Green
  • Planning and organizing your processes is important yet considering that processes are led by people, choosing and contracting professional-minded people to work with is even more important.
    Sebastian van der Veer, Curaloe
  • Why do you want to start a business? If you can feel the desire inside of you and you say to yourself that this is what you want, then I can tell you go ahead and do it. Because then you have that determination coming from the inside. Then, it doesn’t matter if you fall, you will always get up again.
    Mariluz Manuela, Naturals
  • All entrepreneurs have what I call that ‘fire in the eye’; the desire to achieve something. You don’t give up when things get hard or something doesn’t work out. You dont let that stop you. An entrepreneur is someone who after a fall, gets up, brushes off the dust, and gets back in the race.
    Clark Russel, IBIS

About the Program

Business Boost is a 6 month program during which professional coaches provide business coaching to participating entrepreneurs. The program is divided into the following two levels:

Level I: A group-coaching program that aims to provide participants with essential business knowledge and skills in order to strengthen their foundation and enable them to grow their business. These sessions will be practical and interactive. Participants are required to apply the newly acquired knowledge to their business during the course of the program.

Level 2: A one-on-one coaching program specifically designed for companies with a strong business foundation that strive to export their product. This program is tailored to the specific needs of the participating businesses.

Accepted applicants will be assigned to the corresponding program level by the selection committee after thorough assessment of the company’s needs.
